TEMPERATURE CRITICAL THRESHOLD FOR YIELD IN CHILI PEPPER (CAPSICUM ANNUUM L.)

Chili (Capsicum annuum L.) is a horticultural plant susceptible to high-temperature stress. This research studied how agronomic and physiological characteristics of chili decline due high temperature determined the threshold value decreasing 50% its yield. The experiment layout followed randomized design, consisting five stress levels (in growth chamber), namely, 31°C (daily as control), 33°C, 35°C, 37°C, 39°C, with an exposure duration 10 h. started when reached flowering phase. parameters observed included characteristics. study results showed that decreased production significantly in all traits. at 32.86°C has reduced plants by compared control. found increase 2°C for h phase reduces 68.78%, maximum 39°C during up 87.52%. Hence, based on results, future should focus developing varieties are adaptive temperatures.
